Technical Considerations
AnEnterasys NetworksMid‐SpanPowerHubmaybeplacedonashel formountedina
standard48.26‐centimeter(19‐inch)rack.
Beforeyoumount theunittoafixedlocation,considerthefollowing:
• Determineoptimalplacement.
•Collectanddocumentnetworkinformationasrequired.
•EnsurethatthelengthofcablefromtheEthernet
networksourcetothepowe red
devicedoesnotexceed100meters.
•Theunitisintendedforinstallationinawiringcloset.
• ConnecttheunittoagroundingtypeACoutlet(100‐240VAC),usingthestandard
powercordshippedwiththeunit,orauser‐suppliedUPS(uniterruptiblepower
supply).
•Allow
foreasyaccesstodisconnecttheunitfromtheACoutletifnecessary.
•Donotcovertheunitorblocktheairflowwithanyotherobjects.Keeptheunitaway
fromexcessiveheat,humidity,vibration,anddust.
•Ensurethatinstallationconformstolocalregulations.

compliancewithClass Arequirements,useCategory5,5e,or6shieldedtwistedpair
straight‐throughcables.
Note: The units are not repeaters and do not amplify the Ethernet data signal.
